    Product Description
This antique napkin ring would make a wonderful addition to your collection of vintage pieces. Cast in Boston, this silver plated napkin ring memorializes the Grand Army of the Republic, a fraternal organization honoring service personnel who fought for the North in the American Civil War. The ring is shaped as a military drum used to mark the cadences for the marching troops. Showcased on a textured silver background, raised ropes of silver represent the braided leather straps that kept the drum's rawhide in place, while draped flags adorned with tassels define the Union for which the soldiers fought. A five-pointed star in the center of the ring bears the organization's initials, G.A.R., while the word Boston above the star identifies the city where the napkin ring was made. A slightly raised bayonet point on the back of the napkin ring contains the initials L.S. in an ornate script and the year 1892. Berry-bearing branches around the images add a softening touch to the military display. Somewhat irregular in shape as is typical of vintage pieces from long-past eras, the interior of the napkin ring is smoothly polished. This piece has not been cleaned in order to preserve its valued patina. Cherish a piece of the past when you add this napkin ring to your collection!
This napkin ring weighs 66.6 grams. The piece measures 3 13/16" tall and 2 1/32" (51.1mm) wide.
We guarantee this napkin ring to be silver plated as tested. Please check out the enlarged pictures.
